I Pad  has a variety of applications, the following list are a few of the applications and what they are used for:

 E Reader:
Gives you the ability to read eBooks from Apple's i Books, Amazon's Kindle and Barnes and Noble's nook, newspaper, the daily news from news corp and magazine content this makes I Pad one of the most versatile eReaders on the market.
 Surfing the web:
I pad is equipped with Safari web browser, the on screen landscape or portrait function depends on which way you turn or hold your i pad.  The benefit of having ipad is portability, light weight, and convient to use, especially if you are in a sitting position.  Many of us are TV watchers, how many times have you seen a face and thought I know how this actor is where have I seen them before? Having IMDB (Internet movie data base) or Wikipedia makes it easy to surf at your fingertips makes having I pad a wonderful item to have you can search from the comfort of your couch.
 225,000 apps available for use with I Pad and iPad is able to run almost all of them. There is a variety of download apps you can use:  games, Marvel Comics and The Wall Street journal. If you have apps on your iPhone or iPod touch will get the apps sync to the iPad from your PC or Mac.    App Store is where the fun starts. This application is used to buy games and apps for your iPad. Even if you don't want to spend money on an apps, there is abundance a of free apps available for iPad.
Watch Videos:
View clear HD TV shows, movies, pod casts, music videos and more. Go to the video application and play movies and TV shows you purchase on iTunes or transfer to iPad from your personal library.  Digital copy is available on many DVD’s and can also be transferred to i pad via i tunes.
Photo Album/Photo Booth:
You can store thousands of photos and even display them as a slide show and display them on your screen.  Photos are stored in an internal folder that is accessed through photo apps, these are photos that have been taken with a camera or photo booth.  Other benefit of photo app is the ability to do a Slideshow.  If you are not going to be taking many pics with your ipad you can move the pics to the home screen. You can use photo booth to take fun pics with a stretch effect or circus mirror.
YouTube App:
A YouTube app was designed specifically for the iPad. YouTube has become even easier to use on the iPad then on the YouTube site, especially since it's in HD. YouTube. The iPad does not support Flash video, but most YouTube videos can be delivered in a supported video format. You can use the YouTube video to search YouTube, or if you are in the Safari browser and click on a video, the YouTube application will launch.
 I Tunes:
The lastest movies, TV shows, pod casts and more. With ITunes you can listen and organize music just like on a iPod.  The ipad and PC versions have most of the same features; buy movies to play with the video app and with the music app you can play music download any purchased music using i tunes on your PC without hooking up your ipad to your PC.
Check Mail:
Is very user friendly, just click and you are there!  The application is set up through setting.  Ipad supports many forms of email (just to name a few:  Gmail, Yahoo mail, Hotmail and Aol mail).  You can view all of your incoming mail as well as the boxes by specific clients.  Another great benefit is sending instant messages to any that has any of the following for free:  I Pad, iPhone or iPod.  If you aren’t on a monthly plan messages is a terrific way to cut down on your text message bill.
